You all know how much I love to share my self love strategies and favorite self care methods, but I have no problem sharing the spotlight. That’s why today is a roundup of the web’s best 10 ways to practice self love and self care. Each of these resources impressed on me in some way, and gave me a lot to think about for my next self care day and heck – how to make every day a bit of a self care day!
10 New Ways to Practice Self Love & Self Care
1). Keep a weekly Happy Habits chart
The idea is simple, you fill in as many “happy habits” as you want on the lefthand side of the chart, and there’s a space to check it off for Monday – Sunday. The idea being, of course, that you are reminded to complete each of your happy habits each day! You can get the free printable online at Love Me Feed Me.
2). Try any one of these 66 ways to make yourself feel better
With 66 different mood boosting ideas and adventures on the list, I challenge you to not find something you’d enjoy. Personally I’m all about #46, staying in pajamas all day. But you can find your favorite over at Healthy Helper Blog.
3). Choose to Live in Your Body
Kaila impressed the heck out of me with the ways she she has begun to think about her body physically and the advice she dives for others learning to do the same. Check out the rest at Healthy Helper Blog.
4). Embrace unplanned lessons in self esteem
I’m a fan of the unplanned, but I wasn’t always. Unplanned rest days, unplanned adventures, etc all used to be a struggle for me. In this article, Catherine opens up about how an unplanned experiment to go makeup free to work helped her value her beauty and deepen her self esteem. You can read more about Catherine’s b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l experience HERE.
5). Self care in good company
Finding a group of friends that encourage you and inspire you to be and feel your best is so important. And surrounding yourself with good company is just one of the tips Farrah offers up for the taking. Her fresh spin on how to self care left me with a smile on my face. Read the rest HERE.
6). Prioritize Mental Health
When we think of health, it’s easy to assume that means getting fit and eating lots of veggies. Danielle challenges that cliché and narrow interpretation of health by suggesting that it can be healthy to stop exercising. Say whaaaat? Yeah, it’s a thing. See how Danielle is staying happy and healthy without striving to burn calories and why that’s totally okay and pretty damn wonderful at The Kitchen of Danielle.
7). Size really doesn’t matter
If you’ve ever found yourself lusting after the body of the “stick thin” girl you saw last week, you may want to think again. About two things actually. 1) Anyone can struggle with body image regardless of whether they are thin, heavy, or in between. 2) Names like “stick thin” can sting just as hard as any insult. Ellen shares her unique views on body image and in a very personal narrative, allows readers to experience the skinny shaming that made it difficult to love her body at first – and how she learned to embrace it. Read her story HERE.
8). Take charge with the big 3
According to Trisha of The Vibrant Connection, It’s all about connecting with the world and with yourself in three ways: physically, emotionally, and spiritually. She suggests to lead with one question every morning to help guide you in practicing self care for the entire day. See what it is and how she does it HERE.
