As many of you know from Instagram, I’ve had quite the tumultuous week. From a nasty illness to an even nastier security threat to my home, tensions have been high but I can safely (pun intended) say that it’s looking up. With that in mind, I want to focus this Week in Review on kicking it into gear – getting back into workouts, taking back my safe place, and all that good stuff.
- Getting over the bug
Like everyone else and their mothers, I fell victim to the nasty bug that defines “cold season”. Luckily, I had my Cold-EEZE lozenges which I admit taste like medicine but hey, you better believe they work. I eased out of my bug by taking the recommended dose of Cold-EEZE every day that I felt yucky in addition to drinking lots of juice. Buh-bye fear of liquid calories and hello speedy recovery.
- Falling in love with Blogilates all over again
I was going stir-crazy not being able to work out while I was sick, but ultimately I knew I needed to give my body tons of rest and NOT exert it if I wanted to feel better. So I ended up taking a little over a week off until I felt my sniffles and aches fade away completely. Coincidentally, that’s when Cassey released her brand new PIIT 28 (<– affiliate link) program and I knew I had to give it a go. It’s $40, and if you sign up with my link here I’ll get a little percentage 😉 but honestly I was overjoyed to support Cassey. It’s the 1st time she’s ever charged money for her AMAZING workouts and she deserves every penny. I’ve been doing PIIT these past few days to get ready for the challenge beginning on March 1st. Can’t wait to go through it and share ups and downs with the whole Blogilates community – old and new!! Here’s the link again if you want to check it out and sign up.
- Protecting myself
Earlier this week I shared some of my low, vulnerable moments with you all and told you how you can be your own superhero. I overcame the mental and emotional hurdle of having my home vandalized, and now my mom and I have also overcome the safety element. I’m very happy to say we have a top of the line security system installed, as of yesterday, and I can say that I feel safe and comfortable in my space again.
- Finding body positivity where you wouldn’t expect it
Nicole Arbour, notorious for her Youtube video “Dear Fat People”, is the last person you’d expect to be promoting body positivity. And yet in her next video in the series, “Dear Fat People 2”, I’m going to suggest to you that she does. just. that. I know Nicole is one of those people we love to hate, and that hatred is not entirely unwarranted I’ll admit, but all those views are doing one thing for sure: making waves. So let’s use em for momentum right? Let’s ring back with body positivity and show the world we’re out here. You can check out more of my response to the video, here.
