Happy Wednesday friends! And hello from sunny Panama where I’m enjoying a mini get away. And a Panama get away means Panama eats coming soon..but for now let’s dive into a day in the life of Cay as a Los Angeles-foodie-who-can’t-afford-all-the-fancy-places-she-wants-to-go-to-but-also-hates-to-cook. How’s THAT for a mouthful!? Anyways, today’s WIAW is full of some of my favorites: egg + toast, a new bar, and lots of little chocolates throughout the day. Just how I like it.
Because this day of eats was documented right before I left for Panamá, my fridge and pantry was getting pretty b a r e. This breakfast used up the last of my favorite, Udi’s gluten free white bread and the last of my cream cheese as well. Somehow I always have eggs. No, like really. My mom and I *never run out of eggs. I enjoyed this breakfast about 9 A.M. after my morning coffee, and then went back about half an hour later for a spoon of peanut butter.
I enjoyed a bag of my recent find: Sahale Snacks pecan crisp nut mix that I had initially packed for work and didn’t get to. I hope Costco never stops carrying this sweet, filling blend.
After realizing I reeeeally didn’t feel like exercising that morning / afternoon – hey, it happens! – I decided to hop in the shower and then make myself a bowl of pasta. Gluten free rotini with chopped turkey burger. And I bet from the look of it you think it’s tossed with marinara sauce, but it’s not. It’s ketchup. Yup. I told you I was low on groceries. I actually would’ve never thought to do this but recently my grandma told me that she used to make spaghetti with ketchup all the time when she was a little girl because A) it’s cheaper and B) it’s just easy. Truth be told I couldn’t tell the difference.
Two lil Andes mints while packing that I swiped from the restaurant I went to the night before! A mini resees also snuck its way into the party. The party being my mouth. Duh.
Apparently the Andes mint stayed lingering in my mind through the afternoon, because the bar to immediately catch my eye in the grocery store was this chocolate mint square bar. I’ve seen so many people posting about these bars on Instagram, and I finally understand the hype! This bar had such a *thick chocolate coating and definitely a thin mint vibe going on. A godsend for my poor, gluten free soul.
Caved and went to the market for just a few things, and ended up picking out this EVOL bowl for dinner. I’m a sucker for anything Mexican-themed, but I know that frozen meals almost always don’t taste as good as their picture looks. But guys, this did! Soft corn tortilla, lots of cheese, and fresh chicken. I would definitely recommend.
Couldn’t resist picking up this fun sized, gluten free Ben & Jerry’s flavor at the market too! I had never had Cherry Garcia before, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. Ben and Jerry you do it again! Also had a few handfuls of gluten free pretzels before bed.
